Happy New Year! Did you know that New Year’s Day is the oldest of all the holidays we celebrate? People have been celebrating the New Year for about 4,000 years! It’s only been celebrated on January 1st for the last 2,000 years because… well… there were no calendars or Januarys or firsts before then.
Since it’s a new year, it’s like everything gets a new start. Many people get a new calendar and make New Year’s Resolutions. A New Year’s Resolution is something that you plan to change or do better in the new year. This year, I decided to drink less soda and more chocolate milk, and to do a better job keeping my room clean.
Are you making any New Year’s Resolutions for 2005? Do you have a calendar?
Your pal, ScribbleMonster
ScribbleMonster’s Special Guest of the Month is…
… Essie the ScribbleElephant! They say that an elephant never forgets. I can’t speak for all elephants, but Essie never forgets a birthday and is probably my most thoughtful friend.
You can print out this coloring page and make your own ScribbleElephant. Who will be my next Special Mystery Guest? Check back in February to see!
