The Song of LIFE

One of my favorite board games has always been The Game of LIFE – primarily because of our house rules: When you stop the car to get married, you have to tell everyone who it is you are marrying – so it’s kind of like truth or dare. It has to be someone real that you know – not a celebrity – and there is no teasing allowed. You also have to name any children you may add along the way, which I found to be good practice for eventually naming my own kids.

One day cousins were over and my son was explaining our house rules: “Every time that I play LIFE, I choose ****** to be my wife.”

They giggled, said, “Hey, that rhymes!” and “You could make a song out of that!”, so I did. The song has struck a chord – especially with adults – who have used it as their first dance at weddings, in wedding and anniversary videos, and at related events. This cute little song certainly took on an unexpected LIFE of its own.
